A rapid, international transition is occurring from subscription-based publication to open-access publishing. Most often, open-access publications require an article processing charge (APC) be paid to the publisher. The ARC Alliance is studying the magnitude of these APCs on an institutional level and potential future implications based upon current trends. Methodologies have been devised to allow any institution to participate in this study and contribute to the robustness of the results. A white paper is available detailing these methodologies. Several institutions have joined us as collaborators in this effort, and we welcome collaboration with other institutions. A manuscript will be developed based upon this work and submitted for peer review.
